Spiritual Warfare

We wanted to share this exerpt from the Edward's (our teammates) newsletter...

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
Nearly 3 years ago, we asked you to begin praying for Lillian and her family. At that time, Lillian was a new Christian and her husband Shen Feng was a fortune teller. She lived in
fear of his oppression, drinking and random fits of rage. She specifically asked us to ask you to pray for her and her family. Over the last few years, your prayers, along with Lillian’s submission, our outreach efforts to Feng Shen and God’s amazing grace have resulted in an amazing testimony. Two weeks ago, Shen Feng was baptized into Christ. His son, Bwu Shuen followed in his steps one week later. Over the last year, we knew he was making bigger steps and slowly opening his heart to Christ, but there was something that was keeping him from making the final step of faith. According to Shen Feng, there literally was something inside of him. Here is a brief synopsis of the events leading to his baptism and acceptance of Christ.
Shen Feng reluctantly accepted an invitation by one of his neighbors to hear a Christian speaker. Something in him was still resisting the gospel, but with his wife’s encouragement, they headed to the local church. Upon arriving, they were informed by some church members that their would be some baptisms that night. When someone asked Shen Feng if he was ready to make
that kind of decision, a voice inside him immediately took offense and wanted to leave the church. Another voice, however, told him to stay and listen. After the service, his friend asked him if he wanted to go upstairs and see their facility. Shen Feng agreed and they went upstairs. As they came up the stairs, the baptisms were just finishing. And one of the leaders again asked Shen Feng if he was ready to make a decision. What came out of Shen Feng’s mouth next was a surprise to him and his family. “Yes. Let’s do it.” Again, a voice inside him was saying, ”Now is the time.” But the battle was not yet over for Shen Feng.
As he sat down in the baptistry, the unimaginable happened. After six months without any major heart problems, he began to have what felt like a minor heart attack. He quickly debated in his mind whether to say something and get out of the water, but something else was pushing him to go ahead and get baptized. His hands shaking, his heart hurting, his ears seemingly closed off to the world around him, Shen Feng was lowered down into the water. What happened next he can only describe as a miracle. In the few seconds of time he was under the water, he describes a heavy pressure building up right below his heart. As he came up out of the water, the pressure exploded through his chest into the water. He emerged from the water with people clapping and singing, and the pain in his chest was completely gone. It hasn’t returned since. Shen Feng believes that at the moment of his baptism, some kind of evil spirit left his body. A spirit that had tormented him for years. He describes the difference in his life as night and day. Shen Feng shares very clearly now how Satan was fighting up to the last minute to keep him from taking that final step of faith. Shen Feng is now drawn to God’s Word and is reading it everyday, something he once banned his wife from doing. God is humbling him and opening his eyes to the people around him who need to hear his testimony. Lillian and Shen Feng want to thank YOU for battling in prayer for them over the last three years. Prayers that changed a life and a family forever. Continue to pray for Shen Feng as he grows in the Lord. Now that his eyes are open, we believe he’ll make a huge impact for the Kingdom.
