Purity Lesson

We have written in our past newsletters asking for prayer about presenting purity to the youth group. This is a topic that the culture has left behind closed doors, but praise the Lord because the church desires to bring it out into the light. This past Saturday the youth spent game time playing frisbee football with a loaf of bread instead of a frisbee. Chunks of the loaf went flying every time the bread was launched and caught, and Casey and Allen called numerous time-outs to pick up the pieces and tape them back to the loaf. When it was time for the lesson he brought out a knife and began cutting slices of the mauled bread and offering it to the youth. The looks on their faces presented the perfect connecting point for the lesson on purity. This was Part 1. Part 2 happens in two weeks when the guys and girls will be split up for deeper discussion and encouragement.
We are always impressed at how God moves even when our language blunders seem to make the message fuzzy. During the lesson Allen accidently said that economic depression is often a side effect when you choose to have sex before you are married. In Chinese there are two words for depression and their uses are exclusive; one is only used for the ecomony and one only for the mind. Although the mistake was embarrassing for Allen, I'm sure it added the perfect amount of comic relief.
