Allen and I were able to go on a date Friday night. We did what we have vowed we would never do on a date - go shopping. It gets worse...we went grocery shopping. We were in desperate need of some things after having been gone for two weeks. Actually, it was pretty relaxing since we didn't have the kids with us. There is a Barista Coffee shop in the shopping center so we went there first for a nice supper and some fresh summer smoothies. In the grocery store we picked up our usuals, but when we got to the milk and juice aisle something interesting happened. There is a lady who works in that aisle letting everyone know about specials and giving samples of milk. When we first met her I was just pregnant with Kirstie and she noticed right away, before most people could really tell that I was developing a tummy. Since then we have seen her just about every other week (minus trips to the US) for nearly 4 years. Over time we have developed a friendly sort of buyer/seller relationship with her. On this day we said hellos and she asked where our kids were, and then she asked what church we work with. She told us that her son's friend had been interested in finding a church and also wanted to learn English. When she heard this she thought of us right away. She told him that she knew some foreigners working with a church and would talk to us about it the next time she saw us in the milk aisle. "And here you are!" she said, "on the very same day I talked with him!"
The milk lady (sorry, she doesn't have an English name yet) also thought maybe her son would study with his friend. They have just graduated from college. I've always wondered if God would be able to use this seemingly insignificant relationship. It seemed like we were witnessing His providence. Why else would we have decided to go grocery shopping on our date?

It sure doesn't take much for a date to be fun once you have kids. I just LOVE being able sit for a whole meal when Brent takes me out once in a while. That is cool the way your date worked out!
