Happy Birthday Renee!

Yesterday was our language teacher, Renee's birthday. She has been a great help and friend to the missionary families here so we were excited to help her celebrate. Recently we have asked her to be our nanny for the summer. We have scheduled for her to come take care of the girls on Friday nights so that Allen and I can have a date. Since this Friday was her birthday we planned a little surprise party for her. The Edwards came over early so that we could say, "Surprise!" when she came in the door. She opened gifts and then we all drove to the Global Mall to have supper at T.G.I. Friday's. We ordered food so that we could eat in a Chinese manner, having several different dishes that we all shared from. It was SOOOO delicious! One of the dishes wasn't quite cooked long enough and they ended up giving it to us for free after they recooked it, plus they gave us a free dessert - a gigantic bowl of ice cream and cake that we all shared. When we told them it was Renee's birthday they brought her an ice cream sunday, placed a crown upon her head and sang, "Happy Birthday To You" in English and Chinese as noisily as they could. Renee was thoroughly embarrassed and kept taking the crown off her head during the singing, but they kept putting it back on. Everyone should have this happy embarrassing experience at least once in their life. This was the first time for her.
Kirstie must be growing because she has been eating twice the amount she usually does. Last night when we got home we were talking about how much she ate. She was listening to us and agreed saying, "I ate a lot!" Pointing to her tummy she said, "And it all fit! It went in my mouth and to my tummy and down, down, down to my pants! And I didn't spill!" (Meaning she didn't have an accident) We got some video of her eating the ice cream they brought us. She was holding a big spoon that barely fit in her mouth and eating ice cream to her heart's content. Her eyes were soooooo big!
