"From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us."Acts 17:26, 27
Upon returning to Taiwan we have been asking God for wisdom and direction about how He wants us to serve Him at this point in our lives. In our first two years God showed us over and over that He knows everyone's heart and whose heart is seeking Him. We saw His providence with Linda who came to church asking if anyone could read the Bible with her, we saw it with Carrie who approached Amy in the day market and began studying the Bible with her, with Fagan and Karen who sought us out to learn English from, and with Ruby who started attending Bible study and the English service on her own. All of these people are ones that we did not pursue, but rather God brought to us. We have been asking Him to do this again.
Last night after a late Bible study Allen returned home and discovered that his garage remote was not working. He had to park his scooter outside our building and go ask one of the night guards for help. It turned our that all he needed was a new battery for the remote and the guard insisted that he go get one now so that he could help Allen replace it. So Allen walked down the street and bought batteries at a convenience store. When he returned the guard could not figure out how to get his screwdriver tool open. After several minutes and another guard failing to get it open it finally broke.
While this was going on, another resident of our building came through and stopped to ask Allen if he was an English teacher. Allen explained that we don't teach English but can help practice English using the Bible. The man thought this was a good way to practice and mentioned his daughter who is in her first year of college here. He thought she could benefit from meeting with us so they exchanged information.
When Allen finally got home and told me about this funny situation we figured God must have put it together so that we could meet this man, Tony. Will you help us pray for Tony, his daughter, and other family? Perhaps they are ready to meet Jesus. We don't know what will come of this relationship but want to be ready and willing to take it wherever the Lord leads.
